Tokyo, Japan — The Orange Traveler was fortunate enough to attend a J1 League match on Saturday, and it was one to remember, as FC Tokyo defeated Gamba Osaka in a thrilling 3-2 match at Ajinomoto Stadium.

I was one of 21,940 people in attendance for the game, which saw fan-favorite Diego Oliveira score the game-winning goal for FC Tokyo in the 64th minute.

Keigo Higashi and Masato Morishige scored in the second minute and 12th minute, respectively, for FC Tokyo before Ui-Jo Hwang netted a penalty kick for Gamba Osaka just before halftime. Hwang scored again 13 minutes into the second half to tie the game and send Gamba Osaka’s supporters into a frenzy. However, Oliveira scored a quality header minutes later, and FC Tokyo held on to win the game.

In the coming weeks, more unique content — including additional videos and in-depth articles about Tokyo and Kyoto — will be published on The Orange Traveler. In the meantime, be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for live updates and useful travel information.

Here’s a video recap of my experience at Ajinomoto Stadium:
