A SkyMiles Credit Card gives people the opportunity to save money and receive wonderful perks, so I decided to look at the benefits of requesting one with Delta.

Because I plan on flying frequently in the next year or two, I wanted to find a way to save money. When I travel to another country, I always come to realize that plane tickets are quite expensive, and so, I try to cut the cost of the ticket or look for better deals among many different airlines.

After researching which airline flies to each country I will visit this year, I decided to apply for the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card, and the benefits it offers will hopefully help me and you save money. There are many different types of frequent flyer reward cards, and you most likely can find one associated with any airline, but for me, the Delta card suited my travels.

The first benefit they mention is the 30,000 miles you can receive if you spend more than $1,000 of credit in the first three months of use. This offer is inciting because 30,000 is a huge amount, but spending $1,000 in credit is hard to do if you do not usually spend that amount of money in a three-month period. If you want to maximize this benefit of the card, try waiting until a moment when you know you will buy an expensive item, such as a DSLR camera or a new smartphone, so you can purchase the pricy item with your new SkyMiles Credit Card and reach the $1,000 mark within the three-month period.

Also, with your first Delta purchase, you will receive $50 of credit toward your card, so you basically receive $50 off of your first plane ticket purchase with Delta. For the travelers who want to save money on plane tickets, this paired with the benefit of receiving one mile for every eligible purchase seems to be the perfect perk. You can start redeeming your miles when you reach 10,000 miles, which will give you $100 off of your next Delta plane ticket purchase.

Two of my favorite benefits are priority boarding and my first checked bag being free. With priority boarding, I do not have to worry about standing in a long line, and I will not have to worry about finding a compartment to store my carry-on baggage or squeezing by people in order to sit down. I will be one of the first people on the flight to do such things and will feel more relaxed as I prepare to travel.

As long as I do not overstuff my checked bag, Delta will waive the first checked bag fee, which is perfect for a causal traveler, who does not bring more than than two bags, one carry-on and one checked bag.

There is an annual fee of $95, but the fee is waived for the first year, and so, I will wait to see how much the card has saved me before using it year after year.
