Santo Domingo, D.R. — All aboard the guagua!
The informal mode of transportation in the Dominican Republic is sure to leave a lasting impression upon new visitors to the Caribbean island. While there is not a set price for travel from one location to the next in the small van, a good deal can be made, especially if you or someone you know speaks some Spanish. And don’t take the size of the vehicle for granted as people will continue to pile inside, even onto your lap if necessary.
I had the pleasure of riding on a few guaguas while heading to some of D.R.’s most beautiful beaches and back to Santo Domingo.
